oh dear

april0512_2
Luckily today was just a personal shoot...

...a quiet afternoon with Mom's new kitties in the sunshine.
april0512_3
After a few shots my beloved 5D camera made some strange sounds.
april0512_4
A hazy glow appeared instead of kitty faces.

And then it went black.

When I opened it up the mirror fell out. Ahhh! Turns out there was a recall awhile ago about this issue. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is an easy fix.

After some phone calls, research and a talk with some very helpful guys at Calumet it looks like my little guy might come out of it okay.

Tulips from Holland growing in my garden...so happy to see this bloom today! These sweet petals that look as if they were penned by a woodland fairy are what happens when one isn't successful at growing lettuce and it just grows taller and taller, a beautiful surprise.

Each year the freesia blooms just before the first official day of Spring, bursting in color and fragrance.

This little guy planted himself between a brick step and the driveway...he is just too pretty to take away and from the hummingbirds even if we do have to step over him.

A second cup of tea. The first one was forgotten about and got so hot it bubbled right out of the pot all over the stove. Ugh.

the very first bloom

march0411_1
Mom and I have been tending to a garden that was a bit forgotten over the last few seasons. In this garden is a rose bush for each one of us in the family, mine is white. Daffodils that remind us of Grampa grow happily throughout. Dad built the brick pathway that curves through the flowers leading down to Mom's lilac bush.
march0411_2
We were surprised to see a lavender bloom stretching high above the otherwise bare branches. We both leaned in to take in the scent. The scent of years that have passed and of a new season yet to come.
march0411_3
I'm secretly hoping the days in the garden take longer than expected, it is pure happiness to hear chirps all around, to pull weeds, find ladybugs and worms, smell the lilac, chat with Mom and have her all to myself, even if for just a moment.

time stopped

This afternoon I was curled up on the couch with Hermie and Ladybug both sleeping next to me. Not wanting to disturb their slumber and feeling quite comfortable myself I realized a tissue stood tall from the box and obscured my view of the time. It was wonderful. It was wonderful to not know the time and think about how very late it was getting and I still had not done all I wanted to do for the day.

something beautiful.

I walked under this fountain of yellow and green yesterday while in deep conversation with a dear friend. The green whiskers caught us by surprise and my friend paused and exclaimed how very beautiful the tree was.

Then I thought about my friend and the tree later that night. Today I tucked my camera in my bag and stopped to photograph it, this lovely creature growing beside the road, who just yesterday gently brushed the tops of our heads as we passed by.
