today the dearest little girl with painted nails and a big girl haircut turned five and I know it was just an hour ago I held the same bundle of sugar and spice in my arms after my best friend from fifth grade brought her into the world, it is quite something to watch someone grow into who they will become...

unique! april26_2april2610_1april2610_3 Some souvenirs from my two days at Unique LA.
: : my very cool neighbors Cool Haus (chocolate chip red velvet ice cream sandwich anyone?) and M7
: : seeing creative friends Sasha and Christine
: : meeting a new friend, Tanya from V is for Violet, oh my, her popsicle clips and ice cream cone pins are adorable
: : finding a kindred spirit in Kelso from Kelso Doesn't Dance, her items sing of sweetness and the past
: : connecting with fellow photographers, Jill Jeziorski's work is beautiful!!
: : Unique LA is organized and put on most beautifully by the beautiful Sonja. Each one gets better, even though it feels like it can't get any better...it does!! Ice cream sandwiches, colorful banners, bright yellow signage, sushi carts, craft tables for all and most of all the creative humans that were contained on the top floor for two days in April...amazing!!
... april242510_1 A gorgeous view of the city behind me and a view of my table. I met a tremendous amount of people and appreciate every single one who stopped by, purchased items, chatted, offered ideas, talked of opportunities and told me wonderful things such as, "you're a genius" "wow, you are beyond creative" " I love everything on this table!" "I'm a fan" "I read your blog" "your work makes me smile"... THANK YOU!!
♥ Thank you Mom and Case for working the table with me, I love getting to share the days with you and I appreciate all of the help, couldn't do it without you. ♥
... april2310_1 Friday came much too soon, I found myself with a list, a very long one of all to do before Saturday morning, some sleep was sacrificed.

The weekend arrived with a gift of chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, yes, there was a big dollop of peanut butter inside, too (thank you, Candy). Hermie and the kitties found sunshine and napped their little hearts out. The weather turned warm and bright by Sunday, might just be time to plant some seedlings that will shrivel up and disappear if I don't.

Fours days soaking up the bells, art, language, culture, Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, maps...many maps, the metro, the train, beautiful euros, croissants, croissants dipped in hot chocolate, baguettes, pistachio ice cream at the Eiffel Tower, winged statues, fancy king and queen sleeping quarters adorned with plumes and flowers, the Palace of Versailles, Marie Antoinette's vision of peasant life, sun, wind, chilly air, warmth, handmade crepes, the Latin Quarter, Arc de Triomphe, a busy road without lanes, sketches of inspiration...ah, using my passport for the very first time and I found myself in Paris. Then Case and I rode a train to Switzerland...

Basel, Switzerland... castles are real, confetti in every color decorates the stone walkways and thatched roofs, there is the most vibrant market in Marktplatz each morning, swiss chocolate in flavors of berries, almonds, and caramel, the very best vegetarian platter awaited me, black walnut ice cream for two, a cute ferry ride to start the day, the nicest people, "snack" menus after lunch, a bit of shopping with francs, museums to discover next time...
...

A plane ride back to California, a lovely chat with a girl from Paris visiting Los Angeles for the first time, Hermie kisses and a home cooked meal from Mom...falling asleep in my own bed, home.
