the place my younger sister dreams when she is home for a break from long days of lecture, studying, notes, new information... a student of medicine

we delight in her visits and respect this sanctuary of sleep that replenishes her

today while visiting with my mom I passed by and couldn't resist capturing the perfectly rumpled blankets washed in yellow sunshine as the sun was setting for the day

sweet dreams.

...there was a beautiful, loving, giggly family with one ticklish baby, a princess daughter who wore golden shoes, and two happy parents.
september2610_4
I had the pleasure of photographing this very special family today. They came with smiles, cuddles, laughter and costumes, yes, very very adorable, indeed.
september2610_3
So while photographing quiet moments and chubby cheeks, leaves were literally falling all around us. A perfectly wonderful photo shoot to start this beautiful season!  {thank you!}

This morning Case woke up one year older than he was when he went to bed. But not too old for fruity pebble treats to share at work, a garland with sweet notes (one for each happy year), lots of happy birthday wishes, a polaroid of his birthday self, cards arriving in the mail, his desk decorated in streamers, and later...dinner out, presents and a banana cake with milk chocolate frosting and walnuts
Happy Birthday Case!

Hermie curled right up in my lap and heart five years ago today.

In celebration, today has been full of Hermie's favorite things...chopped up carrot on his breakfast, snuggling, a car ride, a new harness, laying in the sun, kisses, an apple carrot cupcake and an evening walk.

Happy Birthday little guy!

*the apron giveaway is still going on until 9.28, good luck*

a giveaway...
september2010_1
My friend Lisa from Sassy Chef Aprons designs and collects cute aprons. She has run her online shop since 2007, ever since she found an adorable apron in a small boutique. Inspired, she began creating similar aprons with her signature "sass." She is a talented designer, a German Chocolate cake baker and has an eye for ruffles, buttons, trims, color and shapes that flatter all figures.

Cute aprons and baking go together, I love this new designer apron from Lisa's shop.

something beautiful.

I walked under this fountain of yellow and green yesterday while in deep conversation with a dear friend. The green whiskers caught us by surprise and my friend paused and exclaimed how very beautiful the tree was.

Then I thought about my friend and the tree later that night. Today I tucked my camera in my bag and stopped to photograph it, this lovely creature growing beside the road, who just yesterday gently brushed the tops of our heads as we passed by.

made

Today I made my first two batches of granola bars. The first batch is Summer Harvest, as they consist of honey, peaches, apricots and apples. The second batch (not pictured, still cooling) is made up of grain sweetened chocolate and dried bing cherries, maybe they could be called Sweet Bings.

when the whole day is before you and maybe anything is possible...

We were hoping it would be possible to keep Biddy kitty with us for many more days. It was not. Today we said goodbye. Biddy kitty won't be opening doors anymore or peeking around corners only the way Biddy could. His perfectly beautiful face and spirit will always be with us. Amid tears, hugs, Biddy stories, Michael Jackson music and Mom's chocolate chip cookies we celebrate and remember our kitty Biddy.

the single flip flop that sat in the middle of the kitchen was a smooshed spider, left for Case

Spider season. Two spiders under flip flops in two days, then this beauty in the jasmine this morning. A yellow garden spider moved in. She is harmless besides the restless sleeps she causes with her creepy long legs and big round fat body, crawling into dreams and lurking into thoughts...but yes, otherwise harmless. She makes sacks of babies in the night and is very picky about her mates, she recycles her web and has a creative spark with her zig zag seams made from silk. I like her just as she is, outside.
