thursday
july0810_1 There's nothing I can do about it, just wait and see what can be recovered (I keep saying this to myself and anyone who will listen, over and over again.)
...
Today my external hard drive sputtered and quit. I just sat there for a minute trying not to feel stressed about what that could mean. Tomorrow it will travel by mail to a wonderful hard drive fixer and recoverer (please please please recover all of it). I have other forms of back-up, but this was truly the big one.
...
I have thought of all sorts of things that are far worse and tragic than this, which has provided a little comfort but also dredged up all sorts of sad things. Please feel free to share positive stories of hard drive recovery...

I have heard of two times a hard drive was fried and recovered by the "doctor". Try not to worry. :)

Oh no . . . keeping everything crossed for you that they're able to retrieve everything. Good luck.

Oh darn, I've had that happen to me too, but I completely freaked out as this was my ONLY back-up... Luckily the hard drive fixers managed to retrieve everything for me :)
Here's to hoping the same happens to you!
Enjoy your weekend nonetheless!!

Oh, the things that people can do with computers.
I work in a collision repair shop. During a computer switch, we lost 6 months worth of estimates. Bad stuff. But after a week of work with some smart people, we recovered 3 months of those! which seemed quite impossible. Quite amazing.
So, here's hoping high for you.

I am so sorry to hear about your hard drive. That is every photographers worst nightmare, I think. Here's wishing your hard drive a quick and easy recovery!

wow! this just happened to my work computer... Tech Services is working to retrieve emails, contact list and work calendar... I have faith they can work miracles!
The funniest part of this crash - the only emails that appeared in my inbox were from January - June of 2009! yep! 2009!!! not so funny at the time ~ but several days have passed & it made me realize how dependent on my computer I am (at work, at home & on the road)... WOW! how did I get to this place???
Crossing my fingers for "encouraging news" from your tech person!
