...on this day of Halloween I got out the holiday bedding.

It felt funny, but I know that tonight when the last trick-or-treater skips away I will snuggle up in layers of green and red and wake up in November.


Introducing a new version of the golden acorns, these are snow-kissed and sparkly like the first frost and available in the shop. (holidays and winter on my mind!!)

A quick walk to the shore and the sun getting ready to set added to the warmth and beauty that was already there with this family of four. My friend Chelsea is having twins, one girl and one boy. Finding the perfect monkey stamp proved to be difficult, so my sister Pam carved one and today the cutest baby shower invites were born. {Thank you Pam!}

Earlier this week my mom and a few Etsy friends found one of my images being used for an Etsy Storque article, what a treat!!

Before taking photos for their holiday card, my friend's sweet baby was quite content lounging in his diaper and a grin, super cute. 

A shop update and fresh look for the season, which is feeling very pink and cranberry-ish to me these days...

Craving just a minute to bake... cherry corn scones with gray skies outside was absolutely wonderful, just what I needed after a very very busy week.

On Saturday we sang happy birthday to Mom... after a festive dinner of sweet potato fries, burgers made from veggies, more fries, and a single shared vanilla shake with sprinkles on top...between laughter, photos and stories...before delighting in cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery (carrot for Mom)... a surprise. 

She is quite special, too much so to even write here, that she really should be celebrated every single day.

About a week ago I was doing an interview for a volunteer position I'm interested in. As part of the interview I was asked about my childhood and parents. When I started talking about my Mom I got teary eyed and quiet, and simply had to explain to the interviewer how truly wonderful, dedicated and loving she is. How she genuinely cares and listens. How she calls just to see if I got through the rain okay. How she knows exactly what I need, even if I say I don't. How just trying to tell about her to someone who doesn't know her swells my heart up with joy, because I know how very lucky I am.

On Wednesday Case and I packed a few things, dropped Hermie at my parents and headed to Los Angeles for a few days of tasty meals, sleeping in, window shopping, walking, banana pudding and Arcade Fire (which was the reason for the trip in the first place). We slept in a kitschy cozy place, enjoyed blueberry lemon curd waffles, found a new artist to love, ate the very best BLTs and looked for stars at Joan's, ducked out of the rain to see The Town, sat in yellow 1960's chairs from Denmark at HD Buttercup and danced and sang our hearts out to Arcade Fire.

All sorts of magic wrapped up in a few short days that I'd been looking forward to since I received the tickets on my birthday in August. {thank you Case, xo}

Sometimes you are lucky enough to meet people who literally make the sun shine, like the adorable family I met up with on Sunday. It was a particularly gloomy day but that didn't take away from their natural glow.
